Soil fertility is seriously impaired with the excessive use of chemical fertilizers. Research conducted to study the fall in grain production indicates that the soil is getting drained of organic carbon because of over use of fertilizers, thus effecting soil fertility.

Advent of modern ways of increasing crop yield have severely affected the health of soil. Dysfunctional supply of nutrients, excessive use of fertilisers and multiple cropping cycles have resulted in decreasing levels of organic carbon in our lands. Figuring out the way forward to achieve food security without putting excessive pressures on our resources is the key to achieve a sustainable environment.

Judicious use of Bio-Manures or Bio fertilizers can help address this threat. Sharayu’s Bio-compost not only improves the physical structure of soil but also enriches the soil with yielding micro-organisms. It is a rich source of carbon for the soil also is abundant in three major nutrients i.e. NPK (Nitrogen-Phosphorus- Potassium). The use of Sharayu’s Bio-compost balances the organic carbon in the soil and thereby preserves optimum productivity and soil fertility.

Bio-compost is manufactured by composting press mud received from cane juice filtration and spent wash received from distilleries. Spent wash is an effluent which is a waste of distilleries producing alcohol/ethanol, mostly attached to sugar mills. The spent wash also has beneficial nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium etc. As per real time experience, the productivity of not only sugarcane but other crops also are much better with use of this manure. It is therefore in the interest of farmers and the agriculture sector to use press mud and spent wash to produce this manure.
