Cogeneration means simultaneous production of two useful forms of the energy in our case it’s electricity & steam. Bio-Power is part of Sharayu Agro’s renewable energy business. We produce bio-power and steam from bagasse i.e. sugarcane by-product and other farming by-products to use in our sugar mills for captive consumption and sale to the state grids in India. The Bio energy produced from burning bagasse is a renewable energy that provides a significant reduction to greenhouse gas emissions.
Sharayu Agro’s bio-power plants use raw materials that are 100% farming by-products. The main raw material used is bagasse from sugar production. For every ton of cane pressed, approximately 30% is bagasse. The bio-power plants also source other types of fuels including sugarcane leaves, husks, bark, grass, and other farming by-products. The sourcing of these raw materials not only generates additional income for local farmers, but also protects the ecosystem and the environment.
